Taylah Robertson: “I plan on being the face of female boxing in Australia”, Awaits Opportunity for her Second Pro Bout

From MTK Global:

ROBERTSON INSPIRING NEXT GENERATION

Taylah Robertson has set her sights on becoming the face of female boxing in Australia – as she looks to revolutionise the sport and empower her fellow women Down Under.

While team sports such as football, netball and rugby take a lion’s share of the spotlight among Aussie sports fans, Robertson (1-0, 1KO) still hopes that she can inspire more women to pursue a career in boxing – or at least use it to stay active and fit.

A former Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and many-time Australian national champion, Robertson began her professional career in February, doing so in fantastic style when she needed just 56 seconds to stop Ranee Klinratree in front of an adoring Brisbane crowd.

She now wants to build on that success, and has opened up about what she hopes to achieve in boxing over the next few years.

Robertson said: “I plan on being the face of female boxing in Australia, and eventually overseas. I have grown so much as a woman in this sport and I want to inspire more women to join the sport.

“It is helped shape me to be the confident and fierce young woman I am, and I have the skills to go with it and believe I can empower more women to join me. Within Australia, female boxing isn’t massive, and the more women who join it even just for fitness, the more popular the sport will become.

“I continued to keep a base fitness and stay in shape and trained at least once a day during lockdown. Instead of revolving everything around training, I took a step back to take the time to spend with family and build friendships. It made me come back more motivated than ever.

“I feel like I’m the best female boxer in Australia at the moment in my weight division, thanks to my vast experience as an amateur. I’m learning quickly in the pro ranks and would like to take two to three years to get become a world champion. My manager Mike Altamura has structured my path accordingly.”
