From Kansas to SoCal – A Confident Miranda Adkins Steps Up Against Seniesa Estrada on July 24

Last week, Golden Boy Promotions announced that interim WBA Flyweight champion Seniesa “Superbad” Estrada (18-0, 7 KOs) of East Los Angeles, CA will return to her familiar Light Flyweight division on their July 24th show Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, CA.

The signed opponent reached out to us to discuss this match.

“Lil Beastie” Miranda Adkins (5-0, 5 KOs) of Topeka, KS, cited, “Golden Boy sent over the contract for me to sign for WBC world title bout with Senesia Estrada bout set for July 24th at Fantasy Springs Resort in Indio CA.”

Adkins continued, “No rest for the determined! I’m training harder then ever before.”

When asked about how the current Covid-19 pandemic has affected training camp, she responded, “I think everyone is being more careful about keeping healthy with social distancing and hand washing which is good. Myself included. I have multiple gym memberships; which I have utilized all of those to train for previous fights.”

“However, this camp I’ve opted to prepare and train off the grid so to speak. I’m staying out of the local gyms, to stay and keep healthy. This has challenged me to amp up more creative ways to train especially outdoors training, drills, and training at home in my home gym.”

Motivated by higher powers, “Primarily my faith and strength in God (Philippians 4:13) and raising awareness for Ovarian Cancer in my Moms honor are both HUGE motivations!”

From Adkin’s Social Media:
“Warriors take delight in the process I’ve already won my battle years ago….
The rest is bonus…
In between several rounds of Sparring sessions, mittwork, combined with HIIT training with miles and stairs sprints.

“Another motivation is quite honestly for all those people or women out there who have ever been told: this is something maybe you shouldn’t or can’t do….Well win or lose you can! And life is too short- do the things you want to do NOW! I have already won my battle a few years back, so this one is for God, my Mom, Ovarian Cancer awareness, and all others who feel marginalized or women out there who need to hear: No matter what life has thrown your way- what matters is that you get back up, and keep moving forward. You are strong and you can do anything you set your heart and mind to!”

Who is Miranda Adkins?

Adkins is currently the WIBA International Light Flyweight Champion after claiming the belt in October.

In her own terms, “I’m from the Midwest and I love it! However, due to limited opponents in the Midwest I’m looking forward to this opportunity to compete in my own weight class, after having to put on weight for previous fights because of limited opportunities for opponents. I’ve had to put on weight for a few weight classes over it caused me ill effects which created injuries during those fights, even fighting those larger opponents I still maintained the willpower to fight through them to victory. So fighting at my own weight class will be a nice change and I’m already at fight weight. I feel blessed that no matter what I have a solid career to go back to after this that is also my passion!”

“I’ve worked very hard the last few years after a long medical battle and great loss of my Mom and my own recovery.”

Seeing Estrada’s battle with Esparza in 2019, we asked about the positive expectations ahead for Adkins vs. Estrada.

“That battle between Esparza and Estrada was awesome with mad crazy skills on both sides there was great work shown between two queens in Women’s boxing!”

“Anyone can have certain expectations of how boxing matches will go based on what they have seen in past fights. However, when your in the ring with your opponent anything can happen. I have fought hard battles before both in and especially out of the ring! Expect that I have put in the work and I will put my heart and soul into this fight, deriving my strength through God and my Mom in Heaven. Honestly, I have already won my greatest battle and I have nothing to lose and everything to gain! Can Estrada say the same?”

“I took this fight because I feel at this point in time Estrada is the best in our weight class and one of my goals going into this journey towards healing and raising awareness for Ovarian Cancer- was to fight the best in Women’s Boxing in this weight class. Much respect to Estrada as she is an amazing athlete in women’s boxing!”
